Challenge ROADEF 2009: Disruption Management for Commercial Aviation

Thanks to the success of the previous five challenges ROADEF'99, ROADEF'2001, ROADEF'2003 ROADEF'2005, ROADEF'2005 and ROADEF'2007 every two years, the French Operational Research (OR) and Decision Support Society (ROADEF) organizes an OR challenge dedicated to industrial applications, in collaboration with an industrial partner.

This challenge is open to everyone, and particularly to young researchers, excluding people professionally involved with the industrial partners.

The goal of this challenge is twofold. On the one hand, it allows some of our industrial partners to witness recent developments in the field of Operations Research and Decision Analysis, and young researchers to face up to a complex decisional problem occured in industry. The challenge will give them an opportunity to explore the requirements and difficulties encountered in industrial applications. On the other hand, we hope that this challenge will help to establish a permanent partnership between manufacturers and young scientists on industrial size projects which require both high scientific qualification and the real-life practices in companies making use of decision analysis.

Since the Senior category has been added, this challenge also allows qualified researchers to show their knowledge and demonstrate their know-how on pratical problems. This gives opportunities to establish partnerships with industrial companies.

This year, the challenge is proposed by Amadeus and deals with disruption management for commercial aviation..
