Senior Software Engineer / Postdoc for Deterministic Networking Algorithms in 5G

The Network Optimization team in the Data Communication Lab, is looking for candidates for a postdoc / contractor research position on Network Optimization applied to IP networks. The opening is in the Huawei Research Center of Huawei Technologies France, SASU, located in the Paris area. The position focuses on developing control plane algorithms for IP traffic engineering, network optimization, network control and network automation.

Work Location: Boulogne-Billancourt/France

Dates: ASAP for 12-15 months

Major Responsibilities

Deterministic networking (DetNet) is emerging as a key functionality to enforce the respect of latency and jitter constraint for time-sensitive applications over a traditional IP network, fostering the convergence of several vertical industries on the same network infrastructure. In this context, we are designing advanced combinatorial optimization algorithms for a centralized network controller (SDN – Software Defined Networking controller) to configure DetNet (Deterministic latency Networking) routers and switches with proper shaping / scheduling / routing parameters.

We are looking for a Software Engineer. The work will mainly include:

·       Software architecture of the control plane engine

·       Implementation in C++ of DetNet routing and scheduling algorithms

·       Test case generation and performance tests (scripts)

·       Extensive use of parallelization tools (e.g., OpenMP)

·       Integration of linear programming libraries (e.g., COIN-OR)

·       Participation to scientific publications

Specific Requirements

The following skills and experiences are highly desirable:

·       Engineering Degree in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering

·       Extensive experience with C/C++

·       Experience with development tools: Visual Studio, SVN, GIT

·       Background in Operation Research, Combinatorial Optimization

·       Background in Networking is a plus

·       Experience with Python and script languages is a plus

·       English: Operational

Required Degree: PhD (Seniority level according to experience) English: Operational
